Man Killed in Escondido Bicycle Crash on Broadway

 
ESCONDIDO, CA (August 12, 2022) — A 73-year-old man died in a bicycle accident on Broadway at El Norte Parkway on Thursday.
 
According to the Escondido Police Department, the fatal bicycle crash happened around 10:30 a.m. For unknown reasons, a 69-year-old woman driving southbound struck the southbound bicyclist who was in the bicycle lane.
 
Shortly after, paramedics and Escondido police responded to the scene to investigate.
 
The victim – who was knocked off his bike and onto the sidewalk – died from his injuries. Officers have not released his name.
 
As for the driver, she did not appear to be impaired by alcohol or a drugs. However, officers have yet to identify the primary cause of the accident.
