Thomas Cavanaugh Dies in Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Crash on Vermont Avenue at 165th Place

 
GARDENA, CA (February 7, 2025) — Thomas Cavanaugh died in a hit-and-run pedestrian accident on Vermont Avenue at 165th Place on December 28.
 
The Los Angeles Police Department said the hit-and-run happened around 12:40 a.m. Under unclear circumstances, an unidentified driver of a four-door white sedan heading northbound on Vermont Avenue struck 70-year-old Thomas Michael Cavanaugh.
 
Instead of rendering aid and waiting for the police, the driver left the scene, leaving the Los Angeles man and military veteran with fatal injuries.
