Boy Killed in Sled Accident on Sylvan Way near Oak Leaf Lane

 
IDYLLWILD-PINE COVE, CA (March 15, 2021) — A 7-year-old boy from Beaumont died in a sled accident on Sylvan Way on Sunday, March 14.
 
According to California Highway Patrol Officer Matt Napier, the boy’s loved ones visited some friends on Sylvan Way in Pine Cove when the accident happened.
 
At around 3 p.m., the boy sled and traveled down a driveway and into the road. At the same time, a car moved eastbound at a low rate of speed, witnesses stated.
 
The boy slid under the car and suffered serious injuries, Napier said. The driver pulled over and helped bring the child to the Keenwild fire station in Mountain Center. Before the 7-year-old could be airlifted to a nearby hospital, medical personnel pronounced him dead.
 
Authorities have not released the child’s identity.
 
According to Napier, officials ruled out alcohol and drugs as contributing factors. The investigation of the incident is still ongoing.
