HOMELAND, CA (August 30, 2022) — A 67-year-old man died in a broadside accident on Highway 74 at Sultanas Road on Sunday.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly two-vehicle accident happened around 2:20 p.m. For unknown reasons, a 67-year-old man driving a 2011 Toyota Tacoma northbound failed to stop at the intersection with Highway 74.

As the Tacoma proceeded through the intersection, an eastbound 1999 Ford F-250 pickup broadsided the driver side of the Toyota Tacoma at speeds of 45 miles per hour.

Shortly after, the Riverside County Fire Department arrived and extricated the driver from the Tacoma. However, the 67-year-old was pronounced dead upon rescue.

Following the accident, police interviewed the 44-year-old Hemet resident driving the Ford who reported no injuries and did not appear to be intoxicated.
