Cyclist Injured in Accident Involving Deputy’s Patrol Car on Fair Oaks Boulevard in Carmichael

 
CARMICHAEL, CA (July 27, 2021) – A 65-year-old bicyclist sustained injuries in an accident on Fair Oaks Boulevard, Wednesday morning.
 
According to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, the accident happened on July 21, at about 9:00 a.m. An on-duty Sacramento County deputy was reversing back out onto the roadway to respond to a call. Then, the deputy vehicle hit the cyclist near the 5300 block of Fair Oaks Boulevard.
 
As per reports, the deputy drove over a rolled curb and pushed the cyclist across the sidewalk and into bushes. The vehicle then left the scene to get to the call.
 
A passerby later called 911 to report a pedestrian being hit by a marked sheriff’s SUV.
 
Emergency responders transported the bicyclist to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
 
California Highway Patrol is investigating the collision, while the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office Internal Affairs Division is investigating the incident.
