Accident at Haster Basin Park Parking Lot in Garden Grove Kills Child

 
GARDEN GROVE, CA (March 20, 2021) – A 6-year-old boy was killed in an accident at Haster Basin Park parking lot in Garden Grove Thursday evening, March 18.
 
The accident happened just after 7:00 p.m. near Lampson Avenue, the Garden Grove Police Department said.
 
An SUV was traveling in the parking lot when it struck the unidentified child. Paramedics arrived soon after and rushed the boy to a hospital, where the victim later died.
 
The driver of the SUV remained at the scene following the crash and was cooperating with investigators, the Police Department stated.
 
The vehicle has been impounded for evidence.
 
An investigation is underway to determine the cause of crash, and if drug or alcohol impairment was a factor. Anyone with information is asked to call traffic investigator Paul Ashby at 714-741-5823.
