Early Morning Rear-End Accident on 15 Freeway in Victorville Kills Infant

 
VICTORVILLE, CA (February 10, 2022) – A 4-month-old boy died in a rear-end accident on 15 Freeway, early Tuesday morning.
 
The fatal accident happened around 3:10 a.m. on February 8 just south of Palmdale Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, a 30-year-old Apple Valley woman was driving a gray 2021 Hyundai Kona SUV at an unknown speed.
 
For unknown reasons, the Hyundai rear-ended an unknown vehicle that was traveling at a slower rate of speed.
 
After striking the rear of the other vehicle, the Hyundai became disabled in the traffic lanes. The unknown vehicle did not stop at the crash scene and continued northbound on the freeway.
 
As a result of the crash, the four-month-old infant riding as a passenger of the Hyundai suffered significant injuries. Paramedics rushed him to Victor Valley Global Medical Center, where he later died.
 
A 4-year-old boy who was seating in the back of the Hyundai was unharmed.
 
The mother was not wearing a seatbelt and only had minor injuries.
 
Authorities asked witnesses to call the CHP Victorville Area office at 760-241-1186.
