12-Year-Old Boy Among 4 Injured in Rear-End Accident on Orange Avenue near Melrose Avenue

 
SAN DIEGO, CA (September 14, 2021) – Four people, including a teen boy, sustained injuries in a rear-end accident on Orange Avenue, Saturday afternoon.
 
According to the Chula Vista Police Department, the incident happened on September 11, shortly after noon. A distracted driver reportedly glanced away at a red light. Then, the driver slammed into the rear of a red Toyota near Melrose Avenue.
 
The impact caused at least four more stopped vehicles to become involved in the accident.
 
Emergency crews transported a 12-year-old boy to a hospital for treatment of a compound wrist fracture. Three other victims were also taken to local hospitals with unspecified injuries.
 
Responders closed westbound Orange Avenue for at least 90 minutes to make way for clearing operations.
 
Chula Vista police continue to investigate the accident.
