4 Killed, Military Helicopter Crashes near Coachella Canal Road in Imperial County

 
IMPERIAL COUNTY, CA (June 9, 2022) — Four people died after a military helicopter crashed near Coachella Canal Road and Highway 78 on Wednesday.
 
According to authorities, the fatal aircraft accident happened around 12:25 p.m. near Glamis. For unknown reasons, an MV-22B Osprey belonging to the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing went down in the rural Imperial County area.
 
At this point, authorities confirmed four fatalities of the five marines on board. However, authorities have not released the victims’ names.
 
At this time, information related to the circumstances of the crash, which involved a helicopter based at Marine Corps Air Station Camp Pendleton, appears unclear. However, an ongoing investigation should clarify more details.
