Three Women Hospitalized after Truck Accident on East Betteravia Road near Telephone Road

 
SANTA MARIA, CA (May 4, 2021) – Three people sustained injuries in a gravel truck accident on East Betteravia Road, Friday morning.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened at about 10:00 a.m. For reasons still under investigation, a big rig and a Toyota Prius collided near the intersection of East Betteravia Road and Telephone Road.
 
The impact of the crash caused major damage to the driver’s side of the Prius, trapping three women inside the vehicle.
 
After heavy extrication work, an ambulance transported the victims to a hospital with minor to moderate injuries.
 
Meanwhile, the driver of the big rig did not sustain injuries.
 
As per reports, a load of gravel being hauled by the big rig was spilled onto the roadway. Responders then temporarily closed affected areas to make way for clearing operations and an investigation.
 
CHP continues to investigate the cause of the accident. Officers will release additional information once it becomes available.
