Truck Hauling Tomatoes Crashes on 80 Freeway in Vacaville Sending 3 People to Hospital

 
VACAVILLE, CA (August 31, 2022) – Three people were taken to a hospital after a truck accident on 80 Freeway in Vacaville on Monday morning, August 29.
 
The accident happened just after 5:00 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol. The truck was hauling a load of the tomatoes when it crashed into the center divider, spilling its load across several lanes of the freeway.
 
Another four vehicles came upon the tomatoes, skidded and crashed as well.
 
Responding paramedics transported three people to a hospital, including one with major injuries.
 
Crews cleaned the eastbound lanes, which reopened six hours after the crash, but one westbound lane remained Monday afternoon. Drivers were advised to avoid the area and use alternate routes.
 
At this time, the exact cause of the crash remains under investigation.
