YOLO COUNTY, CA (May 27, 2022) — Three farm workers died in a single-car rollover accident on County Road 14 near the 5 Freeway on Thursday.
According to reports, the fatal single-car accident took place around 3:00 p.m. just west of Zamora. For unknown reasons, a driver in a Ford Econoline van seemed to have lost control, causing the vehicle to drift off the road and roll over multiple times. Upon impact, the vehicle struck a tree, trapping several people inside.
Responding authorities arrived soon after and found 11 people in the van. After that, they brought eight of them to several hospitals in Salina and Sacramento counties for treatment of major injuries.
However, officials confirmed three fatalities. Their identities are still not available.
At this time, investigators have no word on the cause. However, they have learned that the occupants inside the van were farmworkers making their way home after work.
