2 Teens Hospitalized, Driver Crashes Down Hillside on Beethoven Drive in Escondido
ESCONDIDO, CA (January 24, 2023) — Two teens were rescued after a car crashed down a hillside on Beethoven Drive near the 15 Freeway.
According to the Escondido police officers, the single-car crash happened around 1:40 a.m. Monday. For unknown reasons, a white sedan shuttling two 19-year-olds veered off the roadway and traveled down a hillside. Soon after, dispatch received an Apple crash detection alert from an iPhone informing them of a crash near Westfield North County Mall.
Upon responding, Escondido Fire crews found the car 30 feet down an embankment and used the Jaws of Life to cut the car to extract the two teens. Paramedics brought both of them to a hospital in unknown conditions.
