2 Teens Hurt in Pedestrian Crash on 4th Avenue in Chula Vista

 
CHULA VISTA, CA (August 25, 2021) — Two teens were injured in a pedestrian accident on 4th Avenue at Park Way Monday night.
 
According to the Chula Vista Police Department, the incident happened around 7:40 p.m. Under unclear circumstances, a driver traveling northbound on 4th Avenue struck a 14-year-old and a 15-year-old crossing eastbound in a marked crosswalk.
 
Soon after, paramedics reached the scene and took one teenager to Scripps Mercy Hospital where she remains in stable condition as of Monday. Meanwhile, paramedics brought the other injured girl to UC San Diego Medical Center.
 
As for the driver, described as a man in his 60s, he stayed back and spoke with police investigators. Per reports, the ultimate cause of this accident requires further investigation. However, police have ruled out drugs and alcohol as possible explanations for the accident.
