Theft Suspect Injures Two Colma Police Officers while Attempting to Elude Arrest

 
COLMA, CA (May 6, 2023) – Two Colma police officers were injured after an arrest for shoplifting ended in a crash on El Camino Real Monday afternoon on May 1.
 
According to the Colma Police Department, the theft happened at a store in the 1200 block of El Camino Real around 5:45 p.m. One male suspect was inside a store and a second was waiting in a vehicle outside.
 
When officers arrived, they attempted to make contact with the suspect inside the store as he exited with the unpaid merchandise, but he began to flee from them.
 
In an attempt to help the theft suspect escape, the second suspect drove toward the officers, ramming both the theft suspect and one officer.
 
The second officer attempted to prevent the suspect from fleeing and was also injured in the process. The second suspect then fled the scene in a white Subaru Forester.
 
Paramedics took the two officers to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries.
 
The theft suspect, a 29-year-old Turlock resident, was arrested and transported to a local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
