Head-On Accident on Highway 32 in Susanville Kills 2 and Injures 2 Others
SUSANVILLE, CA (November 11, 2021) – Two people died and two others were injured in a head-on accident on Highway 32 Tuesday afternoon.
The fatal accident happened around 2:29 p.m. on November 9, just west of Chester. According to the California Highway Patrol, a Ford F150 was traveling westbound on the highway at an unknown speed. At the same time, a Ram 3500 was heading eastbound at approximately 45 to 50 mph.
For unknown reasons, the Ford crossed over the centerline directly into the path of the Ram resulting in a head-on collision. The Ford then spun off the south side of the roadway and rolled down an embankment before catching fire.
Passersby attempted to extricate the occupants of the burning vehicle.
Unfortunately, both the driver and passenger of the Ford died at the scene. They were not yet identified.
The driver of the Ram, 24-year-old Robert Ramirez of Woodland, and his passenger, 23-year-old Joaquin Hendrickson, also of Woodland, sustained moderate to major injuries. Paramedics transported them to Enloe Medical Center in Chico for treatment.
At this time, the fatality is under investigation. Authorities asked anyone with further information to contact Officer B. Lingenfelter at the Susanville Area CHP office (530-252-1800)
