Afternoon Multi-Car Crash near Market Place and Potrero Grande Drives Leaves 2 People Dead

 
MONTEREY PARK, CA (December 8, 2022) – Two people died and six others were injured after a multi-car crash near Market Place Drive and Potrero Grande Drive on Tuesday afternoon.
 
The fatal crash happened around 3:00 p.m. on December 6. According to the Monterey Park Fire Department, multiple vehicles collided near the intersection in unclear circumstances.
 
First responders rushed five people to nearby hospitals, where two of them succumbed to their injuries.
 
Three other people were treated at the scene, but refused medical transport.
 
Authorities issued force closure on several stores near the crash site, including one of two entrances into a Costco parking lot, while they conducted their investigation.
 
It is unknown at this time if drugs or alcohol was a factor.
