2 Hurt, Horses Struck, Killed by Vehicle on Iron Canyon Road in Canyon Country

 
CANYON COUNTRY, CA (June 19, 2024) — Two people suffered injuries after a driver hit two horses on Iron Canyon Road and Sand Canyon Road.
 
According to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station, the accident that claimed two horses’ lives happened around 8:30 p.m. Monday. For unknown reasons, a male driver of a Nissan sedan failed to stop behind two riders on their horses. Subsequently, the car struck both horses knocking their riders onto the road.
 
Soon after, Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics arrived at the scene and took both riders, believed to be a mother and a daughter, to a hospital for care. One of the horses passed away in the crash and the other one was later put down.
 
Following the incident, police interviewed the driver and confirmed that DUI was not a factor.
