2 Hurt in Petaluma Head-On Crash on Lakeville Highway
PETALUMA, CA (August 11, 2022)— Two people were injured in a head-on accident on Lakeville Highway near Pine View Way on Monday morning.
According to the Petaluma Police Department, the two-vehicle crash happened around 5:54 a.m. A 35-year-old man driving an eastbound white Chevrolet Spark decided to cross the double yellow lines into the westbound lanes to overtake slower-moving traffic.
As a result, the white Chevrolet collided head-on with a westbound Toyota RAV4.
Due to the nature of the collision, both drivers – located unconscious and trapped in their cars – were taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital for treatment of serious, non-life-threatening injuries.
At this time, authorities have not factored in other reasons for the crash. However, investigators will be reviewing to see if the Chevrolet driver will face criminal charges.
Some car accidents can be preventable. Follow all road signs and traffic lights when driving. When driving on two-lane highways, never use the opposing side to overtake slow-moving vehicles if the lines are double solid. The risks of a head-on accident increase when you do so.
