Dump Truck Overturns after Accident on 5 Freeway near Allen Canyon in Castaic

 
CASTAIC, CA (February 9, 2021) – Two people sustained injuries in a dump truck accident on 5 Freeway, Tuesday evening.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened at about 7:30 p.m. For reasons still investigation, a dump truck became involved in a crash near Allen Canyon, just north of Cherry Canyon.
 
The impact of the crash caused the dump truck to flip.
 
Emergency crews transported two people to hospitals with unspecified injuries. However, authorities did not release the names of the victims.
 
Responders shut down all lanes on the southbound 5 Freeway to make way for clearing operations and an investigation. As per reports, one lane remained closed at about 9:30 p.m.
 
CHP continues to investigate the circumstances that led to the accident. Officers will release additional information once it becomes available.
