2 Hospitalized after Car and Semi-Truck Crash on Highway 101 in Marin County

MARIN COUNTY, CA (July 18, 2022) — Two people were injured after a car and a big rig crashed on Highway 101 near San Antonio Road on Friday morning.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the two-vehicle accident happened around 7:36 a.m. For unknown reasons, a Honda Civic driver heading northbound lost control. As a result, the Honda struck the center median and ricocheted into the middle of the highway where a Freightliner truck tried to swerve.

However, the semi-truck ended up hitting the Honda and overturning.

Soon after, authorities and paramedics responded to the scene and officers had to block all lanes of traffic, causing a four-hour delay.

At this time, investigators do not suspect alcohol or drugs to have played a role in the accident. However, an ongoing investigation should confirm what had happened.

Driving a car can be risky. To increase your level of safety, keep your focus on the road. Put your cell phone away and avoid spacing out or daydreaming while behind the wheel. Keeping a safe and considerable distance from other cars also gives you a better vantage point to avoid any emergencies.
