2 Injured in Car Accident on Riverland Drive [Redding, CA]

2 Hospitalized after Car Accident on Riverland Drive near Knighton Road in Redding

 
REDDING, CA (April 5, 2021) – Two people sustained injuries in a car accident on Riverland Drive, Friday afternoon.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened at about 1:40 p.m. A vehicle reportedly attempted to pass another car when the driver overcorrected. Then, the vehicle sideswiped a truck, lost control, and slammed into a pole near Knighton Road.
 
Emergency responders transported the driver of the vehicle to a hospital with major injuries. As per reports, another person was hospitalized with minor injuries. Authorities did not release the names of the victims.
 
CHP continues to investigate the cause of the accident. Officers will release additional information once it becomes available.
 
When passing other vehicles, practice defensive driving. Avoid overcorrecting and calmly steer your vehicle back to your lane. Be mindful of your speed and always be on the lookout for possible road hazards.
