SAN PABLO, CA (November 24, 2021) — Two people were injured in an Amtrak train accident on Chesley Avenue near Rumrill Boulevard.
 
According to the Rodeo-Hercules Fire Department, the incident happened around 8:15 p.m. For unknown reasons, a big rig carrying five cars became stuck on the train tracks on Chesley Avenue. Soon after, an oncoming Amtrak train struck the car carrier, sending debris flying for several hundreds of yards.
 
As a result of the accident, both drivers of the big rig and the train suffered minor injuries. Fortunately, the 30 Amtrak passengers on board the train escaped harm.
