2 People Killed in Rollover Crash on 5 Freeway in Elk Grove

 
ELK GROVE, CA (September 22, 2022) — Two people died in a rollover accident on the 5 Freeway near Hood Franklin Road on Tuesday.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal single-car accident happened Tuesday morning. Officers believe a driver veered onto the rumble strip but lost control immediately, perhaps in an attempt to overcorrect the car.
 
Subsequently, the vehicle rolled over from the wet road and ejected three people from the car.
 
As a result, a 20-year-old man from Stockton died at the scene and the 21-year-old Elk Grove man driving the car died at the hospital.
 
One passenger, believed to be the only one left in the vehicle, was able to crawl out and call 911. Two people, one from Isleton and another from Stockton, survived the crash with major injuries.
 
At this time, reports have not included the cause of the accident. However, if anyone has more information, please call the CHP.
