Suspected DUI Driver Arrested after Merced County Car Accident on Highway 165 at Westside Boulevard

 
MERCED COUNTY, CA (December 8, 2021) – Police arrested a 19-year-old woman following a suspected DUI accident on Highway 165 on December 5.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened at Westside Boulevard around 12:35 AM.
 
Based on a report, the suspect and her 20-year-old male passenger, both from Modesto, were traveling in a white Dodge Charger north on the highway at the time of the crash. Subsequently, the vehicle approached a curve and the driver failed to negotiate the turn. Then, it continued straight and left the roadway, striking a power pole. The impact caused the pole to fall, which pulled a second pole down.
 
As a result, both occupants of the vehicle suffered injuries in the incident. Paramedics transported them to Modesto-area hospitals for treatment.
 
In the end, officers arrested the teen driver on suspicion of driving under the influence.
