DUI Driver Rebecca Griffiths Involved in Accident on Esplanade in Chico

 
CHICO, CA (October 25, 2021) – Police arrested 19-year-old Rebecca Griffiths following a DUI accident on Esplanade on October 20.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near 1st Avenue at approximately 12:50 AM.
 
Based on an initial report, a Ford Mustang with a white racing stripe was driving recklessly on Esplanade hours before the accident. Then, police received information that it ran a red light at the intersection of 1st Avenue. Subsequently, the Mustang crashed into another vehicle traveling westbound on the road. In the end, it crashed into the traffic signal control box that controls the traffic lights.
 
As a result, the driver of the other vehicle sustained minor injuries. Paramedics transported the victim to the hospital for treatment.
 
Officials arrested Rebecca Griffiths for felony DUI. At this point, an investigation into the crash is ongoing.
