Antioch Man Killed in Two-Vehicle Accident on 5 Freeway near Hood Franklin Road
ELK GROVE, CA (December 7, 2023) – A 19-year-old Antioch man died in a two-vehicle accident on 5 Freeway, Saturday evening.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened on December 2, at about 9:18 p.m. For reasons still under investigation, a 2012 Infiniti was traveling at a high rate of speed. Then, the vehicle failed to slow and crashed into the rear of a 2019 Ford van near the Hood Franklin Road exit.
The impact of the collision caused the Ford to overturn. Meanwhile, the Infiniti veered to the left, slammed into the center divider, and then rolled over.
As per reports, the Antioch man was ejected from his Infiniti.
Emergency crews pronounced the 19-year-old dead at the scene. Authorities withheld the identity of the victim, pending notification of next of kin.
The 21-year-old Ford driver did not suffer any injuries.
Responders transported a passenger in the Infiniti for treatment of major but non-life-threatening injuries.
CHP continues to investigate the fatal accident.
