Teen Dies in 3-Vehicle Crash on Dehesa Road in East County

 
EAST COUNTY, CA (January 17, 2025) — An 18-year-old man died in a 3-car accident on Dehesa Road near Sloane Canyon Road.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the three-car crash happened late Monday afternoon in East County. For an unknown reason, an 18-year-old driving a westbound 2003 Nissan 350Z entered the opposing lane. Subsequently, the Nissan crashed into the front of an eastbound 2024 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by a 45-year-old Spring Valley man. The Nissan continued out of control and struck a dirt embankment and a wooden utility pole.
 
Meanwhile, the Chevrolet veered out of control and crashed into a westbound Mercedes.
 
Tragically, the Nissan driver passed away from severe injuries. The Chevrolet driver suffered major injuries and was taken to Sharp Grossmont Hospital. As for the Mercedes driver, he or she reported minor injuries.
 
Authorities did not confirm if alcohol or drugs factored into the accident. However, if anyone has more to add, contact the CHP.
