Car Accident on Highway 4 in Martinez Kills Luis Ceja Jr., Injures Three Passengers

 
MARTINEZ, CA (November 18, 2021) – An 18-year-old driver died while three teen passengers suffered injuries in a car accident on Highway 4 at Alhambra Avenue on Monday, November 1.
 
Authorities identified the fatal victim as 18-year-old Luis Ceja Jr. of Concord.
 
The accident happened around 6:30 p.m. on westbound Highway 4 just east of the Alhambra Avenue off-ramp. According to the California Highway Patrol, Ceja Jr. lost control of a silver 2011 Honda Accord with three passengers inside the vehicle.
 
The car veered off the roadway before crashing into a tree.
 
As a result, Ceja Jr. died at the scene.
 
The three passengers were all teens, the CHP said. Officials transported them in ambulances to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek with major injuries. The CHP did not say whether the injuries were life-threatening.
 
The CHP said it was raining and the highway was wet when the crash happened. At this time, the cause of the crash and factors involved remain under investigation.
