Fatal Semi-Truck Accident on Highway 247 in Lucerne Valley
LUCERNE VALLEY, CA (June 8, 2021) – Officials confirmed that a 17-year-old Victorville resident died in a car accident on Highway 247 on June 5.
The San Bernardino County Coroner identified a teen driver as Reuben White.
According to the California Highway Patrol, around 7:54 a.m. White drove a 2015 Chevy Traverse northbound on Highway 247 just north of Lake Street.
For unknown reasons, he lost control of his vehicle, causing it to leave the roadway and cross the soft dirt median. White attempted to regain control of the vehicle. However, he traveled from the northbound lane and into path of a southbound 2017 Freightliner truck with a 53-foot trailer.
The driver of the Freigtliner attempted to brake, but was unable to avoid crashing onto the right side of the Chevrolet.
San Bernardino County Fire responded and pronounced White deceased at the scene.
At this point, the accident is still under investigation. However, no other details are available.
