Teen Alejandro Miranda and Leroy Rodrigues Dead in 2-Car Crash on International Boulevard near 78th Avenue

 
OAKLAND, CA (February 3, 2022) — 17-year-old Alejandro Herrera Miranda and Leroy Rodrigues died in a head-on car accident on International Boulevard near 78th Avenue on Tuesday night.
 
According to reports, the fatal two-car crash happened around 9:36 p.m. For unknown reasons, 26-year-old Rodrigues was speeding eastbound on International Boulevard in the designated bus lane. Subsequently, he crossed the westbound lane and crashed head-on with a Nissan, driven by a 16-year-old.
 
As a result of the crash, Rodrigues and Miranda — a passenger in the Nissan — died from their severe injuries.
 
The teen briefly fled the scene after the crash, but police caught up to him and detained him. Police said he was taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries, including a broken wrist.
