16-Year-Old Angel Berumen Injured in Bakersfield Hit-and-Run Skateboard Crash

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (January 26, 2022)Angel Berumen remains in critical condition following a hit-and-run skateboarding crash on Niles Street at Brentwood Drive Tuesday morning.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the hit-and-run accident occurred sometime around 5:45 a.m. As 16-year-old Berumen skateboarded across Niles Street, a motorist struck him and left the scene without rendering help.
 
Shortly after, a driver spotted Berumen with major injuries and contacted 911. Soon after, paramedics brought him to Kern Medical before airlifting him to Valley Children’s Hospital in Madera. However, the teen remains in critical shape as a neurologist had informed his mother that he is brain dead.
 
At this time, officers need the public’s help in confirming the whereabouts and identity of the suspect. Therefore, anyone with information should contact this CHP.
