Teen Passenger Dies after SUV Crashes into Liquor Store on West 54th Street and Catches Fire

 
VERMONT SQUARE, CA (November 29, 2022) – A 15-year-old boy died in a fiery accident on West 54th Street in the Vermont Square neighborhood early Sunday morning.
 
The fatal accident happened around 4:00 a.m. at 1403 West 54th Street. According to the California Highway Patrol, an SUV slammed into a liquor store and caught fire, which spread throughout the front of the store.
 
First responders found the boy dead inside the SUV. The identity of the victim was not immediately available. He was a passenger in the car.
 
A second person managed to get out from the burning car. Paramedics took them to a hospital with unspecified injuries.
 
The cause of the crash is still under investigation. It is unknown if speed, drugs or alcohol were contributing factors.
