14-year-old Selena Clark-Quintero Dies in High-Speed Accident on Highway 101 near Burke Hill Drive

 
UKIAH, CA (August 12, 2021) — Selena Clark-Quintero died in a high-speed crash on Highway 101 near Burke Hill Drive early Saturday.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the solo-car accident happened around 1:30 a.m. Per reports, a Ukiah police officer attempted to make a traffic stop on a 2017 Volkswagen Beetle. However, the 15-year-old driver failed to yield and fled at speeds of about 100 miles per hour.
 
Subsequently, the Volkswagen exited off Highway 101 and barreled past the stop sign, where it became airborne and crashed into a tree. Due to the impact, the vehicle overturned and landed on its roof.
 
Shortly after, paramedics responded and pronounced a 14-year-old female passenger, Clark-Quintero, deceased at the scene. Meanwhile, they brought the 15-year-old driver to UCSF with major injuries and a 13-year-old passenger to Adventist Health Ukiah Valley.
 
At this time, officers have not confirmed if impairment played a role. However, they learned that the deceased victim was not strapped in a seatbelt at the time. If anyone has more information on this crash, please contact the CHP.
