Teenage Bicyclist Suffers Compound Fracture after Struck by Vehicle on Granda Avenue in South Park

 
SOUTH PARK, CA (November 27, 2022) – A 14-year-old boy was injured in a bicycle accident on Granada Avenue in the South Park neighborhood on Wednesday afternoon.
 
Around 3:34 p.m. on November 23, the teenager was riding a BMX-style bike south in the 1700 block of Granada Avenue. At the same time, a 2019 Subaru Ascent was heading east in the 2800 block of Date Street.
 
For unknown reasons, the bicyclist failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection and rode into the path of the Subaru resulting in a broadside crash.
 
As a result, the bicyclist suffered a compound fracture and dislocation of his left ankle, along with other injuries described as non-life-threatening. He was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
 
The Subaru driver, a 36-year-old man, stopped and remained at the scene.
 
The San Diego Police Department is investigating the accident. They asked anyone with further information to call 619-531-2000 or Crime Stoppers at 888- 580-8477.
