13-Year-Old Hospitalized, Jumps Out of Moving Vehicle on Highway 4 in Discovery Bay
DISCOVERY BAY, CA (April 21, 2023) — A 13-year-old was injured after jumping out of a moving car on Highway 4 near Bixler.
According to reports, the incident happened around 2:23 p.m. Sunday. Upon responding, Contra Costa County Fire Protection District firefighters found a female who was injured after jumping out of the moving car.
Authorities do not know why the 13-year-old female jumped out of the car on Highway 4. Paramedics brought her to a hospital with head, chest and arm injuries. A helicopter had to land on the highway to airlift her out of the scene.
Information as to what led the female to leap out of the car is unclear. However, CHP officers reported that she was suffering from a mental health crisis at the time. Information surrounding this report requires further investigation.
