Hit-and-Run Crash on Main Street in South LA Kills Teen and Critically Injures Three Other People

 
SOUTH LOS ANGELES, CA (January 11, 2023) – A 13-year-old boy was killed in a hit-and-run crash at Main Street and 111th Place in South Los Angeles on Monday morning.
 
The fatal crash happened around 8:00 a.m. on January 9. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, a silver four-door sedan was traveling southbound on Main Street at a high rate of speed when it collided into an SUV. The impact caused the SUV to travel off the curb and struck a parked vehicle.
 
First responders found four people inside the SUV, a 35-year-old mother and her three children, the 13-year-old boy, a 16-year-old girl and an 18-month-old boy.
 
Paramedics rushed the four patients to a hospital, where the male teen succumbed to his injuries. The woman and the other children were in critical condition, police said.

Meanwhile, the sedan drove away after the crash. It then hit two other parked cars before it burst into flames. The driver fled on foot.

An investigation into this fatality is underway.
