13-Year-Old Killed, Two Others Injured in Rollover Accident on 138 Freeway

 
LANCASTER, CA (July 28, 2022) — A 13-year-old boy died and two others were hurt in a rollover crash on 138 Freeway on Thursday, July 28.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened at about 11:50 a.m. along the eastbound side of the 138 Freeway near 300th Street West.
 
The driver of a Ford F-250 reportedly failed to stay in his lane. Then it drove off the paved roadway onto the dirt shoulder and then through a dirt field, CHP said.
 
The truck subsequently went into a barbed wire fence and eventually overturned.
 
The impact ejected the 13-year-old boy from the truck and suffered major injuries. Officials said he did not wear a seatbelt.
 
A passerby stopped at the scene and started helping the victim before officers responded to the area. The first CHP officer to get to the scene administered life-saving measures. However, the boy died at the scene.
 
Medics airlifted an 11-year-old boy and the driver, a 41-year-old man, to Northridge Hospital with moderate to major injuries.
 
Authorities closed both sides of the highway durimg the investigation.
