12 Firefighters, Bystander Hospitalized after Explosion near Rancho California Road
TEMECULA, CA (August 18, 2021) — Twelve firefighters and a bystander were evaluated after an explosion near Rancho California Road and Butterfield Stage Road Monday morning.
According to Cal Fire-Riverside, the incident happened around 10:30 a.m. Prior to the explosion, a dozen firefighters responded to the scene of a trash truck fire that was pulled over on the side of the road. However, as crews fought the blaze, a propane tank on the vehicle exploded.
As a result, paramedics responded. Soon after, they transported a dozen firefighters and a bystander to three different hospitals.
