Police Arrest Dhanjibhai Patel after Hit-and-Run in Bakersfield, 11-Year-Old in Critical Condition

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (June 8, 2022) – Police arrested Dhanjibhai Patel in a hit-and-run crash in Bakersfield on Saturday, June 4.
 
The crash happened just after 8:45 p.m. on Brimhall Road near Jewetta Avenue. According to the Bakersfield Police Department, an 11-year-old girl was crossing the street with her mother and 4-year-old sibling outside a crosswalk.
 
Patel, a 79-year-old man, was driving a small black SUV. He struck the 11-year-old victim and fled the scene.
 
Responding paramedics rushed the victim to a hospital with critical injuries.
 
About an hour later, police located the vehicle near Brimhall and Old Farm roads. They also found Patel and arrested him for felony hit-and-run.
