7 Train Passangers Hospitalized after Pacoima Metrolink Accident near Paxton Street

 
PACOIMA, CA (June 3, 2021) – Ten people sustained injuries in a train accident near Paxton Street, Friday morning.
 
According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, the incident happened at about 11:30 a.m. For reasons still under investigation, the southbound Metrolink Antelope Valley Line train 212 collided with an unoccupied vehicle on the tracks.
 
After the collision, the passenger train travelled a few hundred yards before stopping near Van Nuys Boulevard.
 
Paramedics rendered aid to ten injured passengers. As per reports, a total of seven passengers needed hospitalization for treatment of moderate injuries. Authorities did not release the names of the victims.
 
The accident caused track closure and slowed traffic on San Fernando Road until 12:22 p.m.
 
Officers continue to investigate the cause of the accident. Investigators will release additional information once it becomes available.
