1 Person Dies in Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Crash on Van Ness Avenue in San Francisco

 
SAN FRANCISCO, CA (June 23, 2022) — One person died in a hit-and-run pedestrian accident on Van Ness Avenue at 16th Street early Tuesday.
 
According to Officer Kathryn Winters, the fatal hit-and-run occurred around 4:36 a.m. For unknown reasons, a person driving northbound in an unknown make and model ran a red traffic light.
 
Subsequently, the driver struck a person crossing South Van Ness Avenue and fled the scene without assisting the victim.
 
As a result of the crash, the pedestrian suffered major injuries and died later at the scene. Police have not released the victim’s name.
 
At this time, authorities have not confirmed the precise circumstances of the crash. However, anyone with information on the driver or vehicle, please call the San Francisco police.
