1 Person Hurt in Police Chase Accident Involving Semi-Truck on 10 Freeway in Whitewater
WHITEWATER, CA (August 5, 2022) — One person was injured in a police chase crash on the 10 Freeway near Haugen-Lehmann Highway 111.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened around 7:00 a.m. on Wednesday. CHP officers tried to pursue a Toyota wanted by Los Angeles police for felony evading. From there, the male driver in the Toyota led police officers on a pursuit on the westbound lanes of the 10 Freeway. The chase reached a high speed of about 125 miles per hour.
As the suspect crossed near Haugen-Lehmann Highway 111, the driver reportedly made an unsafe turning movement and crashed into a tractor-trailer. As a result of the impact, both vehicles overturned to the right shoulder.
Not long after, paramedics responded to the scene to tend to the injured driver who suffered minor wounds and was taken into custody. Fortunately, the semi-truck driver reported no injuries.
