Fatal Car Accident on South Avenue at Cherry Avenue [Fresno County, CA]

1 Person Killed in 2-Car Crash on South Avenue in Fresno County

 
FRESNO COUNTY, CA (May 31, 2022) — One person died in a 2-car accident on South Avenue at Cherry Avenue on Monday evening.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the two-vehicle collision happened Monday around 5:00 p.m. Upon responding, CHP officers found two cars involved in the crash and a passenger in a Mitsubishi pickup truck with fatal injuries.
 
The driver of the Mitsubishi pickup truck heading westbound on South Avenue crashed into a Hyundai Elantra. Authorities have not confirmed if the driver of the pickup made a complete stop at the intersection before the collision.
 
Shortly after the crash, paramedics reached the scene. The driver of the Mitsubishi sustained serious injuries while two others from the Hyundai sustained minor injuries. Officials brought all three to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment.
 
Authorities do not have information on if alcohol played a role in the car accident. However, an ongoing investigation should confirm these details.
