1 Person Killed in Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Crash near Myrtle Avenue in North Highlands

 
NORTH HIGHLANDS, CA (January 2, 2023) — One person died in a hit-and-run pedestrian accident near Myrtle Avenue and Auburn Boulevard.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol North Sacramento Division office, the fatal hit-and-run happened Thursday night.
 
For unknown reasons, a driver struck a man walking near the intersection. Moments later, a second car, described as a silver SUV, ran over the victim as he was down on the roadway. Although the first driver pulled over and waited for authorities, the second driver fled the scene.
 
Due to the nature of the crash, the pedestrian suffered fatal injuries. Authorities have not released the victim’s name pending notification of next of kin.
 
At this time, officers do not suspect alcohol factoring into this accident. However, they are seeking the whereabouts of the second driver and the vehicle itself. If anyone has seen this accident, please call the CHP.
