Hit-and-Run on Cottonwood Avenue in Hesperia Leaves 1 Pedestrian Dead, Another in Critical Condition
HESPERIA, CA (June 14, 2022) – A pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run crash on Cottonwood Avenue in Hesperia early Sunday morning on June 12.
The fatal crash happened around 4:15 a.m. just north of Sycamore Street. According to the Hesperia Sheriff’s Station, a 29-year-old female pedestrian had fallen onto the roadway of Cottonwood Avenue and a 32-year-old male attempted to assist her out of the roadway.
Moments later, a vehicle struck both the man and woman in the southbound lane of Cottonwood Avenue.
After striking the pedestrians, the driver fled the scene without rendering aid.
Despite life-saving measures, the female pedestrian died at the scene. The male pedestrian was transported to a trauma center where he remains in critical condition.
At this time, it is unknown if drugs or alcohol was a factor. An investigation is underway.
