Fatal Multi-Vehicle Accident on 5 Freeway near 710 Freeway in East Los Angeles

 
EAST LOS ANGELES, CA (March 29, 2021) – One person died in a multi-vehicle accident on 5 Freeway, early Sunday morning.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened at about 5:25 a.m. As per reports, a sedan struck the center divider at the transition road to the northbound 710 Freeway. Then, for reasons still under investigation, at least four other vehicles also became involved in the collision.
 
Emergency crews pronounced one person dead at the scene. Authorities withheld the name and age of the victim, pending notification of next of kin.
 
Meanwhile, paramedics transported at least one person to an area hospital with unspecified injuries.
 
CHP continues to investigate the cause of the fatal accident. Officers will release additional information once it becomes available.
