At Least One Person Dead after Car Accident on Highway 78 near Highway 79 in Santa Ysabel
SANTA YSABEL, CA (January 14, 2022) – At least one person was killed in a car accident on Highway 78 on Thursday afternoon.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened on January 13 at about 3:00 p.m. For reasons still under investigation, an unknown number of vehicles collided near Highway 79 in the Santa Ysabel community.
Emergency responders pronounced one person dead at the scene. Authorities withheld the identity of the victim, pending notification of next of kin.
The total number of people involved in the accident remains undisclosed. It is also unknown whether other people sustained injuries in the crash.
CHP continues to investigate the cause of the fatal accident. Officers will release additional information once it becomes available.
