Tesla Slams into Fire Truck on 680 Freeway in Walnut Creek Killing One Person

 
WALNUT CREEK, CA (February 20, 2023) – One person died and five other people were injured in a traffic accident on 680 Freeway in Walnut Creek Saturday morning.
 
The fatal accident happened on February 18, along the northbound freeway near Treat Boulevard. According to the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District, a Tesla crashed into a fire truck that was stopped responding to an earlier crash.
 
The impact caused fatal injuries on the Tesla driver, who died at the scene.
 
Firefighters extricated a passenger in the Tesla and took them to an area hospital in an unknown condition.
 
Meanwhile, four firefighters had minor injuries and were also transported to the hospital for evaluation.
 
The crash led CHP to close the northbound lanes of the freeway for several hours.
 
At this time, the cause of the crash is still under investigation.
