Fatal Rollover Accident on Highway 243 in San Jacinto Involves Two SUVs

 
SAN JACINTO, CA (May 10, 2021) – One person died and three others were injured in a rollover accident on Highway 243 in the San Jacinto mountains.
 
The accident happened around 2:34 p.m. on May 9 in the 19000 block of the highway near Pine Cove. According to the California Highway Patrol, a silver SUV and a black SUV collided head-on for unknown reasons. The impact caused one of the cars to overturn.
 
The Riverside County Fire Department responded and pronounced one person dead at the scene.
 
Three others sustained injuries. An air ambulance took one of the injured patients to a hospital in critical condition. A ground ambulance transported the other two patients to the hospital with moderate injuries.
 
The crash forced the closure of lanes in both directions, the CHP said.
 
Further details were not immediately available. An investigation is ongoing.
